Preventive filling - Sealants

When the permanent morals erupt at the age of six they must carefully be examined for any possible sensitivity to dental decay. These teeth often have narrow, deep fissures which retain food and bacteria. Given the child’s difficulty to clean  such teeth carefully due to their rear position, it is recommended that these fissures be covered with sealants. Sealants are white coatings placed in the grooves of the molars to prevent any accumulation there of food and bacteria. Preventive fillings/sealants are applied on teeth without necessitating the removal of any dental substance. They are recommended to high risk patients and sensitivity to dental decay of the pits and fissures. They are retained on the teeth for about 4-5 years. While being placed on the teeth they protect them from dental decay by 100%.
