Fillings

When a tooth has a cavity the treatment of choice is usually the placement of a filling, unless the cavity is too large or too deep into the nerve where a crown and a root canal treatment may be necessary.

The material of choice nowadays is the white composite resin material which is a strong material but technique sensitive. Amalgam silver fillings are reserved for cases of very large or sub gingival fillings on permanent teeth.
